The Malaysian Serama Bantam is a new and different chicken breed. These Malaysian Serama Bantam chickens originated from Malaysia that's why most people know this breed by this name. When the Malaysian chicken breeds were developed, the People of Malaysia decided to export this breed to Thailand as a gift. The Malaysian Serama Bantam chicken breed originated in the 1600s. In 20th century these chickens were imported to the United States. But the first breed of these chicken was available for the first time in the United States in 1990. These breeds were also imported to Europe in 2004. 


    Characteristics

    The Malaysian Serama Bantam chicken breeds are available in many different colors, but the common colors of these chickens are black and white. Their features and physical qualities are different from the other chickens. The shape of their body is V-shaped. They are small to medium in their size. Their size may vary from 6 inches to 10 inches. When they stand, they look tall. Their chest is highly tightened and puffed out. Their legs are yellow.

    Temperament

    The Malaysian Serama Bantam chicken breeds are friendly, loving, and gentle. You can take this breed home as a pet. The cocks are more docile than the hens. Both cock and hens are the strongest breeds in terms of structure and health as compared to the others. You can take them indoors, and they feel comfortable in the backyard of the home. They like the company of the children and their friends. The voice of the hen is lower, while the voice of the cock is louder. 

    Egg Production

    The Malaysian Serama Bantam chicken breeds lay good quality eggs. The Malaysian hens lay 4 to 5 eggs in a week. The color of their eggs is cream and brown. Their egg size is small compared to the other traditional chicken eggs. If the Malaysian hens lay 4 to 5 eggs in a week, then you have 180 eggs to 200 eggs in a year. When the Serama Bantam hens reach at the age of 5 months, they get mature. Their suitable egg producing season starts from  November to February. These Malaysian Serama Bantam chickens lay eggs very fast after the first hatch. 

    Weight

    The Malaysian Serama Bantam chicken breeds are heavier in weight. Their weight depends on their classes. They have three classes: class A, class B, and class C. These classes have different weights. The Class A cocks weight may vary from 11 ounces to 13 ounces, while the hen's weight ranges from 10 ounces to 12 ounces. The Class B cock's weight varies from 11 ounces to 13 ounces, while the female's weight may vary from 14 ounces to 15 ounces. The Class C females are heavier than the males. Their weight may vary from 16 ounces to 19 ounces.
