Cockeranian (Cocker Spaniel Pomeranian mix) Temperament, Size, Lifespan, Adoption

Cockeranian is a designer dog breed that is obtained by breeding a Pomeranian and an English Cocker Spaniel. These dogs are high-maintenance dogs. Their traits are also a mix of both the parent breeds. Cockeranian dogs are beautiful by appearance and bear both the bad and good characteristics of their parent breeds. They are small to medium in size depending upon the dominant genetic traits. These beauties are highly energetic and if you have a garden or yard in the house, these cuties are a good fit for you. They require grooming as well because their parent breeds also require maintenance.

    Cockeranian Temperament

Cockeranian temperament is a mix of both highly energetic breeds and high-maintenance breeds. These dogs are beautiful and perfect companion dogs for the family. They are loveable and playful. They are called happy dogs because they are always the happiest presence by your side. They like to make their owner feel happy and smiling. They bark a lot if they are left alone in a house. Sometimes, they may become stubborn and show their protective traits towards their owners. They can protect their people against any negative activity around them. They are good with older kids but need socialization to get along with other pets. They are just fine with the strangers.

    Cockeranian Size

The size of a Cockeranian is small to medium according to the size of its parent breeds. These canines are lap dogs and can spend a lot of time staying in the lap. The size of a female Cockeranian is equal to the size of a male Cockeranian. When they are measured from the shoulder, they stand 11 inches to 16 inches in height. Their average weight is in the range of 7 pounds to 27 pounds. These dogs can be left alone with kids but older kids are preferred because of their smaller size. They can be taken out for social parties and picnics.

    Cockeranian Lifespan

The lifespan of a Cockeranian is from 12 years to 16 years. This is a perfect lifespan for a small-sized dog. Their life expectancy can be extended if they are provided with the best care and attention. They are overall healthy canines and can spend a healthy life with you but there is a probability that they might inherit some genetic diseases. These diseases require regular checkups to a vet at the early stage of life for treatment. They have a perfect lifespan and after completing 16 years of their life, they may die with or without any health issue.

    Cockeranian Adoption

The adoption of Cockeranian is recommended for families. They are suitable for houses and apartments but if you have a yard in the house, this would be perfect. These canines like to play and utilize their high-level energy by playing. So, having a yard in the house would be great. They are preferred for older kids and pets. In the case of strangers, they are not welcoming but do just fine with them. They can be easily adapted from a shelter home and a rescue center. You can also purchase them at a high cost from a well-known breeder or a pet shop.
