Chipit (Chihuahua American Pit Bull Terrier mix) Temperament, Size, Lifespan, Adoption

Chipit is a mixed dog breed that is obtained by cross-breeding two different dog breeds. The parent breeds of chipit are American Pit Bull Terrier and Chihuahua. Chihuahua is a small-sized dog and American Pit Bull is a medium to large-sized dog. So, their resultant breed is small to medium in size. The traits of these dogs are according to the dominant genes. They may have long or short hair depending on the coats of parent breeds. These dogs are friendly and affectionate. They are good with kids but socialization is necessary to make them good with other pets as well.

    Chipit Temperament

The temperament of chipit is friendly and affectionate. They are loving dogs and like to hang out with kids. These canines cannot be left alone. If they have to stay alone in the house, they may get depressed and anxious and their health may get disturbed. Behavior with these beauties matters a lot in their training. Socialization at the early stage of life is necessary to make them obedient and teach them to get along with other pets. Sometimes, these canines may become bullies and fight with large-sized dogs. If they feel their family is in danger, they become alert and fight.

    Chipit Size

The size of the chipit is dependent on the size of its parent breeds. These canines are small to medium-sized dogs. The size of a male dog is comparatively larger than the size of a female dog. The average weight of a male chipit is in the range of 20 pounds to 35 pounds whereas the average size of a female chipit is in the range of 15 pounds to 30 pounds. When they are measured from the shoulder, the male chipit stands 14 inches to 18 inches in height whereas a female chipit stands 12 inches to 16 inches in height.

    Chipit Lifespan

The lifespan of a chipit dog is from 10 to 13 years. This is a suitable lifespan for a small-sized dog. Usually, small-sized dogs live longer than large-sized dogs. Their life expectancy may extend up to 16 years if proper diet and exercise are provided to them. These canines are healthier than their parent breeds. There are few chances of inherited diseases in these designer dogs. Regular checkup with a vet is required for the maintenance of their health. If they are not treated well, they may die before completing their lifespan. Accidents and mishaps are also included in the main causes of a short lifespan.

    Chipit Adoption

The adoption of a chipit is recommended for those who have enough time to spend with their dog. Leaving them alone for a longer duration may cause health problems that may prove fatal for them. These canines are good with kids and other pets if they are properly socialized at the early stage of life. You can find them at a rescue center or a pet shop. A reputable breeder can be contacted to adopt a puppy. Adoption from a rescue center costs less than adopting a puppy from a pet shop. Before adoption, make sure your pet is healthy.
