The natural fibers that grow on alpacas are collected to make Alpaca wool. These animals are similar to camels that’s why these are called camelids. Alpacas are native to South America. There are two different breeds of this animal. These breeds are named as the Suri Alpaca and the Huacaya Alpaca. Both the types of wool obtained from these breeds have their own distinctive worth. Depending on the spun, the wool can be light or heavy. It is ideal to make different types of garments. The wool of Alpaca is more soft and durable than sheep wool. The cost becomes high because of its flexibility of production. Shipping of this wool to long-distance places has negative impacts on it. It may be affected by heat and moisture. The negative effects may be enhanced and the wool may be destroyed. The wages and labour for the production and processing of Alpaca wool is not guaranteed. 

The treatment of animal friendly nature is not guaranteed as well. Their wool has no color varieties and is dyed in the industries. The industrial dye can also affect the fiber structure of their wool. The wool of Alpaca is highly sensitive to moths. Even after processing wool through industry and making garments, there are chances of moths attacking the fabric. The Alpaca wool is not vegan. These are the main listed disadvantages of Alpaca wool. Considering these disadvantages, the advantages are highly preferred. In front of the advantages of Alpaca wool, its disadvantages are neglected. It maintains its worth throughout the world despite the above-mentioned disadvantages. 

Advantages of Alpaca Wool

The benefits of Alpaca wool are appreciated throughout the world. These benefits mainly include its natural fibers. Their fibers are not synthetic and are biodegradable as well. The leftovers of their wool do not cause pollution in the environment. These are biodegradable. It is light to hold and wear. Despite its lightweight, it keeps the body warm. It does not allow the cold air to invade inside and cause temperature changes. The wool of Alpaca is super soft and silky. 

It has a natural sheen. The thermal properties of the Alpaca wool allow the temperature of the body to be normal or warm in winters. The fabrics made of Alpaca wool are windproof naturally. The wool is durable and can be washed again and again. It does not hold any stain on it that’s why it is called as stain-resistant. The body can easily breathe through its fabric. The alpaca wool is lightweight and thin. It takes away the moisture of the body. It is helpful in resisting the bad odours. It does not allow bad odours to come out of the body. It actively absorbs moisture and sweat from the surface of the body without producing any bad odour. When the alpaca wool is wet, it becomes warmer than before. It is flame resistant as well.
