Jack Russell Poodle mix (Jackapoo) Temperament, Size, Adoption, Lifespan

Jackapoo is a hybrid breed that is obtained by breeding a small-sized Poodle and a Jack Russell Terrier. Usually, the Poodle used for crossbreeding is miniature or toy-sized. The standard size of a Poodle is not required. These mixes are affectionate, intelligent, and lively like their parent breed Poodle. Their energy level is high that makes them perfect family pets. The other names of this designer dog breed are Jack-A-Doodle, Jackapoodle, Jackadoodle, Jackapoo, Jack A Poo, Jackdoodle, Poojack, Jack-A-Poodle, Poo-Jack, and Jackpoo. These adorable dogs are bred intentionally to combine the best characteristics of both the parent breeds.

    Jackapoo temperament

The temperament of Jackapoo is the combination of both a Poodle and a Jack Russell Terrier. They inherit intelligence and pride from the Poodles, and hardworking and activeness from Jack Russell. In rare cases, the resultant dog resembles more like one of the parent breeds. Overall these dogs are high-energy beauties. They are always active and looking for some activity to perform. They like to play outside, and exercise is their weakness. Their too much activeness does not allow them to sit idle. Their mind stops working actively if these dogs are left alone with no opportunity of exercise provided.

    Jackapoo size

The size of a Jackapoo is small to medium. These dogs are produced by breeding a miniature or toy-sized Poodle with a Jack Russell Terrier. Depending on the size of their parent breeds, their size can be estimated. On average, they weigh around 13 pounds to 25 pounds, and when their height is measured, they stand 10 inches to 16 inches tall from the shoulder. No significant difference has been seen between the size of a male Jackapoo and a female Jackapoo. Their small size is easily adjustable on trips, tours, and picnics. They can be carried in their hands as well.

    Jackapoo adoption

The adoption of a Jackapoo requires a lot of research. These dogs are hard to find at rescue centers because they are mixed breeds. Rescue centers that are specific to Poodles and Jack Russell Terriers may have these mixed dogs. Adoption is not all about the dog, but you have to assess yourself as well. Make sure if you are ready to adopt a puppy. Check out your living space and decide whether you should adopt a large-sized or a small-sized dog pet. For energetic dogs like Jackapoo, a large living space is required. A big yard or an open space would be enough.

    Jackapoo lifespan

The lifespan of small-sized dogs is usually longer than the life span of large-sized dogs. The average life expectancy of a Jackapoo is from 12 years to 15 years. They may live longer if they are provided with the best diet and exercise. Exercise and physical activities make them physically and mentally fit. Like all other hybrid dog breeds, Jackapoo is also a healthy dog breed. There are a few genetic health issues that may be inherited. Mostly the health problems of these dogs are mild. Allergies, dry skin, and ear infections are the most common health problems, but they are easily treatable.
